Switzerland is a country that has long been entrenched in our minds as one of the most stable, highly developed and democratic in the world. The same can be said about the Swiss education system: education and science are among the top government priorities here. It is Switzerland that takes the leading place in the number of Nobel laureates in the world per capita.
Since 1996, our company has been helping applicants to enter universities in Switzerland, drawing up documents for applying to a university, as well as a visa. In addition, we supervise the student throughout the year: we translate invoices, timesheets, and news. We solve various issues: financial, household, everything related to health, with the choice of subjects, with the upcoming internship, exams and much more. We have a 24/7 emergency telephone.
To date, 12 public universities are registered in Switzerland. Upon admission to these universities, all foreign applicants must pass a single exam, which is organized every year in Fribourg: in June and at the end of September or early October. The exam is held in five subjects, of which French or German, Mathematics and History are compulsory, and the other two (this can be Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, or a second foreign language) are left to the discretion of the chosen university. Special preparatory courses for foreigners are held at the University of Fribourg.
Since the country is multilingual, the language of instruction at the university depends on the geographical location of a particular university. Mostly in all private universities, teaching is conducted in English. We will help you figure out which university is best for you.
The admission requirements for public universities differ. For example, for foreign applicants to enter French-speaking universities, a high school diploma with good grades and successful passing of a single exam for all foreigners are required. And for admission to universities located in the German-speaking region of the country, foreign applicants (in addition to a single exam) are required to successfully complete 2 courses of a Russian university.
Swiss public universities offer affordable prices, for example, the cost of studying at the University of Zurich will be 720 francs per semester; at the University of Geneva - 500 francs per semester; at the University of Lausan - 580 francs per semester; at the University of Bern - 750 francs per semester, and at the University of Basel - 850 francs per semester. Accommodation is paid additionally.
The highest quality private universities are hospitality and banking institutions. Service in Switzerland has long become a science, which is why it is here that the world's best institutes of tourism and hospitality are located, and we have been collaborating with the best of them since 1998. It should be noted that hotel management is one of the most promising and highly profitable professions in the world. Les Roches and Glion Management Schools are ranked in the top 10 in the world.
Another area in which Switzerland leads the world is, of course, banking and finance. The fact that Switzerland has long been the banking capital of Europe clearly proves that the Swiss know how to do business and they have a lot to learn.
To enroll in private universities in Switzerland, it is enough to have a high school diploma and a certificate of passing the English exam (TOEFL with scores from 500 to 550 or IELTS not lower than 5.5-6.0.) We advise our clients on how to pass these exams.
One of the strengths of Swiss higher education is its practical focus. Practice in tourism and hospitality is an essential component of education in this area. An annual paid internship of 4-6 months is already included in the training program. A young specialist is paid a salary, which is an excellent opportunity to compensate for part of the training costs. Hospitality training is the most popular among our clients.
Upon graduation from one of the institutes of tourism and hotel business, the student can receive a Swiss, American or British diploma in hospitality management, which gives the right to occupy a managerial position not only in a hotel, but also in a restaurant, airline, resort complex, sports club. All Swiss universities have a three-stage training system:
- Bachelor's program, 3-4 years.
- Licensee or Master's program, 1-2 years.
- Doctor's degree, 2-3 years depending on the specialty.
PhD studies usually begin with a master's degree. However, candidates with a bachelor's degree can also apply for admission, detailing their level of education in their motivation letter. It is important to note that students in master's and doctoral programs act not only as students, but also as employees. In state institutions, they study for free or almost free. They are paid a monthly salary and receive all employee privileges: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne.
We help our adult applicants with a high level of English and excellent grades to enter such programs at the most brilliant universities in Switzerland.
As a rule, the process of admission to an educational institution should be started at least one year before the expected start date of the study. For each of the programs, universities establish a certain set of documents for admission and the deadline for their submission. Therefore, you need to carefully monitor the dates in order to be in time with the application. Do not forget about the long-term process of obtaining a student visa: by this time you must already have all the original documents confirming your admission to the university.
