My daughter, Sasha, 14 years old, is studying for the first year at King William's college in low5. Before that, I studied for one semester at the preparatory Bishopstrow college. When choosing a school, our family relied on the fact that the child could adapt as comfortably as possible to the British education system. In our daughter's first year of school in England, we did not set the goal of achieving maximum academic performance. The main thing is to integrate smoothly, gently, friendly, comfortably and interestingly into the learning process.
In our opinion and according to the feelings of our daughter, King William's college completely satisfies our today's needs. Sasha is a home girl and is quite strongly attached to home. We had serious concerns: would she be able to exist outside her home, her usual environment, in a foreign country. Sasha did it all!
The school and staff are very friendly! Maybe it's because Maine is a small island and everyone seems to know everyone. Also, unlike other schools, there are no strict rules regarding phones (Sasha has it with her all the time, and even stays with her at night). It's easy to get into town here on weekends and after school. Housemaser is very sincere and always ready to help. Sasha’s tutor is also a darling (teacher Art) aged, but he brings small cakes to everyone for their birthdays and class hours. The boarding atmosphere is friendly and homely. It is possible to accommodate 1 person per room, rather than 3-4 people. This is also a huge plus (for Sasha).
As for studies, at this stage there is no pressure and race in studies. There is a gentle insistence from teachers. I can’t say yet what will happen next. For sports: 2 times a week (Tuesday - 3 lessons, Wednesday - 2 lessons). Strong - field hockey, netball. Now one day there are swimming lessons. Interesting and unusual additional activities for Russia include the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (1-3 degrees), the cadet corps (Sasha participates, she is enrolled in the Air Force, very interesting classes), theater studio (there are paid LAMDA lessons). Sasha is currently just participating in a theater studio (there is a role in the final performance).
In general, life is rich, interesting, not nervous. The guys at school and at boarding are friendly. There are 12 Russian speakers. Sasha is the youngest, 14 years old. Mostly the guys communicate with locals. There are no problems in communication or lack of friends. We are happy with everything!
