Trinity College School (TCS) is a coeducational school for boys and girls that was founded on May 1, 1865, just over 2 years before the Confederation of Canada.

The school is located on an area of ​​40 hectares and is located near the town of Port Hope, with a beautiful view of Lake Ontario, 110 km from Toronto.

Port Hope is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the northern shore of Lake Ontario. The city center has become famous as a place to shop for antiques.

Trinity College School offers a curriculum with the ability to focus on academic areas of interest to the student. The school has 578 students, of which 282 students live on a full board basis.

FACILITIES

On the territory of the school there are 9 playing fields, an indoor hockey arena, 5 gyms, a swimming pool, a bullfighting course, 5 squash courts, 4 tennis courts, beach volleyball and basketball courts.

The impressive theater and music building, LeVan Hall, completed in September 2002, sits in the center of the campus. Preserving the school's unique architectural heritage, LeVan Hall incorporates the latest in communication and presentation technologies, providing resources unparalleled in any other school in Canada.

Renovated in 2010, LeVan Hall was redeveloped into a modern performing arts theater, now includes additional seating, and improved acoustic and lighting systems. Five classrooms with the latest technology, including wireless LAN access and video conferencing capabilities.

The Visual Arts Wing was opened in autumn 2011, its area is about 3000 square meters. The building consists of two workshops on the main level, with an additional studio and study rooms on the lower level.

PROGRAM

The school pays special attention to learning using information technology, with Internet access, e-mail, Smart Boards and classrooms fully equipped with computers. Students and teachers use laptops for online research, classroom assignments and presentations, and use an online learning system that allows them to communicate and access course information after school hours.

High school program (14-17 years old)

Trinity College School's engaging curriculum, spanning four years from grades 9 to 12, emphasizes the philosophy of the humanities. During the first two years of study, students are engaged in art and science. In grades 11 and 12, students begin to specialize, many take the Advanced Placement course.

Advanced Placement Program (AP)

University Preparation Program. The program is offered in over 110 countries and is recognized by over 80 universities in Canada. Based on AP exam scores, students may be eligible for university admission benefits.

Pupils study major subjects according to the university program, for admission to which they are preparing, and as a result of the study they pass exams. The AP program consists of courses in subject areas. Students choose several subjects from the proposed areas for advanced study.

Subjects are studied at the level of the first year of the university with the enrollment of study credits (points) based on the results of exams. Typically, students take exams in three or more disciplines. Recently, more and more universities around the world, including the UK, are accepting students based on the results of the Advanced Placement exams.

All students at the school are encouraged to complete at least one Advanced Placement course in grade 11 or 12. Students should select AP courses according to their academic strengths and interests.

ACCOMMODATION

The high school operates a system of 10 Homes (6 for full-time students, 4 for full-time students) named after former school principals and other prominent members of the school community. Boys and girls live in different houses.

SPORT

Trinity College School has a long tradition of school spirit and good sportsmanship. In sports, as in all activities, the school places an emphasis on staying true to yourself and showing respect for others. In addition to the health and physical education curriculum, the school offers collaborative curricula as a means of developing leadership, goal setting, teamwork, and healthy living.

Students have the opportunity to participate in the school sports team. The school offers 18 different sports and 46 sports teams.

The Sports Department offers a recreational program that provides all students with the opportunity to engage in physical activity without competing. The Fall and Spring semester program consists of indoor and outdoor activities, fitness and pool activities. The winter period includes skiing and snowboarding, swimming pool and some outdoor activities, games.

The Departmentof Arts at Trinity College School strives to develop a creative learning environment to maximize the scope of the artistic experience for each student. The school values, supports and recognizes the importance of art as a necessary and vital component of a student's comprehensive education.

The school continues its historical tradition of encouraging the art of debate. All high school students participate in the Debate program and are also active participants in extracurricular debate programs such as the Fulford League (made up of 19 schools) and the Ontario Student Discussion Union.

There are 3 Debate tournaments every year and the school sends 2 junior high school students and 2 high school students to each tournament. Debates may participate in a Fulford Event only once a year. The Ontario Student Discussion Union debates are held every spring at local and regional level. Throughout the year, high school students participate in a series of debates.
