Boarding School for Boys Tonbridge School was founded in 1553 by King Edward VI. Tonbridge School is part of the Eton group of colleges and schools, making it one of the most prestigious and exclusive educational institutions in the UK.

Today, on the territory of the school, with a total area of ​​150 acres, you can find a huge variety of opportunities for both academic and personal development of students: modern classrooms, a library, a large gallery, a community centre, lecture halls, a chapel and an excellent sports centre which is used as a platform for preparation for the Olympic Games.

The school is located north of Royal Tunbridge Wells on the outskirts of Townbridge, a 30-minute drive from London. In their free time, students like to walk around the city, go to shops and cafes or just relax on the banks of the River Medway, which flows through the city centre.

EQUIPMENT

The school has 24 tennis courts, 12 rugby fields, 9 cricket grounds, 7 hockey fields, 6 football fields, an indoor shooting range, an all-weather athletic track, as well as a large sports complex with a swimming pool. PROGRAM

GCSE (certificate of secondary education)

For 10-11 years of study, the main focus is on preparing for the GCSE exams. They study 4-5 compulsory subjects (English, mathematics, science and 1-2 modern languages ​​to choose from) and 3 elective subjects (Latin and Greek, geography, history, the foundations of religion, art, theatre, music, technology and design )

A-level

A two-year university preparation program. In the first year (AS), 4 subjects are selected for study from a list of 24 options (higher mathematics can in some cases be added as a fifth subject), which includes Latin, Greek, classical civilizations, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, English, history, geography, the basics of business, public administration and political science, economics, the basics of religion, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, music, art, technology and design, theatre, physical culture. According to the results of exams after the first year of study, three subjects are selected for in-depth study in the second year (A2).

ACCOMMODATION

The school grounds have seven residences, each of which accommodates 65 students. Each residence has its own dining room and kitchen, so full-board students have breakfast, lunch and dinner directly here. Most of the rooms are single, however, some of them are designed for 2 or more people. Teachers and mentors also live in residences to constantly interact with students and provide support to them.

SPORT

The school’s modern sports complex and well-developed infrastructure allows students to choose a lesson they like: athletics, badminton, basketball, rock climbing, cricket, orienteering, fencing, sports pentathlon, football, golf, hockey, judo, rugby, shooting, squash, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo. In addition, the school offers sailing, classes which are held on a nearby lake.
