Queen Anne's School is a boarding school for girls, was founded in 1894. The school is located in the town of Caversham, near the centre of Reading, just a 50-minute drive from London. The main goal of the school is to prepare independent, educated and self-confident girls who are able to achieve their goals in adulthood. The school has 450 students.

Throughout the school year, you can come to the school for a 2-week dive program! Ideal for girls who do not want to go to school in Russia due to lack of interest and whose parents think about education in the UK (where secondary education is considered one of the best), but so far, they are afraid to send them for a long time.

EQUIPMENT

The school campus covers an area of ​​14 hectares. The school has a large Performing Arts Centre with a hall for 258 seats and professional lighting and sound, a recording studio, with rehearsal rooms and a stage. There is a theatre, a large bright lecture hall with a projector, classrooms with computers, a built-in projector and a white board.

The building of the art school has 14 art studios, computer classes, a ceramics workshop and a roasting room, a class for practicing textiles, a photo studio with a dark room for developing photos, and a studio for practicing digital photography.

The school has a large sports centre with modern equipment: a spacious gym, 4 badminton courts, 6 courts for basketball and netball, squash court, climbing wall, gym, 2 dance studios with mirrors. On the ground floor of the sports centre there is a large room with an equipped kitchen and a large open terrace overlooking the school grounds. There are 10 tennis courts, a 25-meter indoor pool with 5 paths, lacrosse fields that turn into a 400-meter athletics track.

PROGRAM

GCSE

A two-year program for obtaining a certificate of general secondary education. Mandatory for the study of 7 subjects, 3 or 4 subjects are studied by choice.

A-level

A two-year university preparatory program. Students choose 4 or 5 subjects for in-depth study.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation in a residence in one of 4 houses, in single, double and triple rooms. Each house has a common relaxation room where girls can chat or watch TV, a small kitchen and a room for preparing homework. All houses have WI-FI.

SPORT

Sports activities are required for all schoolgirls. They are designed to form a positive attitude to sports activity, to encourage the values of cooperation and teamwork. At school, you can practice lacrosse, netball, dancing, athletics, rowing, swimming, trampolining, tennis, squash, badminton, rock climbing, Zumba, cross country running. In addition to scheduled classes, girls can train in their free time, and even in the early morning.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

The school offers girls a diverse program of extracurricular activities. Activities range from public speaking and debating to horse riding and climbing. Girls can join a musical group, learn dancing, discover scuba diving, go skiing, cooking, ceramics and much more. Less formal activities include ice skating, water sports, ballroom dancing, cheerleading, theater trips and, of course, shopping. Occupations such as Young Entrepreneurs and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program help girls develop confidence and fortitude.

Professional musicians, speakers from the Royal Society of Chemists and other leading expert experts regularly attend school to help girls develop curiosity and gain new experiences.

The school encourages girls to develop creative abilities - this is facilitated by art classes. Girls study various fields of art and design, including drawing, textiles, ceramics, photography and the history of art.

The music department of the school is in constant motion. Music lessons are required for all students up to grade 10. The main goal is to give practical knowledge about music, its listening and composing. Many girls attend the Royal Academy of Music, the Birmingham Conservatory and are members of the National Youth Choir. Approximately two-thirds of school students are trained to play a musical instrument, many take part in the choir and orchestra. Throughout the year, concerts are held with the participation of girls. Every year, at least one graduate continues to study music at a university or conservatory, some receive a music scholarship at Oxford, Durham, Birmingham and Trinity College of Music.

Queen Anne's School is popular in theatre and dance classes. During the year, 4 major theatre performances are staged, and the school successfully prepares for the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Theatre) exams. Pupils regularly win theatre festivals, and girls who take theatre arts exams receive the highest marks. The school has many clubs, and famous actors and choreographers attend school with master classes - girls learn from real professionals!

EXCURSIONS

Students are encouraged to explore the world around them and they will have many opportunities to join educational trips that will enrich the curriculum. Recent trips: studying physics at the European Organization for Nuclear Research; a trip to Iceland to study the volcanic landscape and its impact on people's lives; Visit Tate Galleries in London and more.
