Loretto School is a coeducational school, was founded in 1827 and is Scotland's oldest private school. Located in the small town of Musselburgh, a suburb of Edinburgh in Scotland. The city centre is a 20-minute drive away. Edinburgh Airport is just 40 minutes by taxi.

The total campus is 85 acres. About 600 people study at the school. This is a very friendly school, where each employee of the school knows each student personally, and children of different ages constantly communicate and make friends.

EQUIPMENT

The school offers ideal conditions for fine art classes: 6 studios, a room for photography. There is everything necessary for pottery, sculpture, stone and wood. It has its own theatre with 300 seats, a music school, a recording studio. The school has a fully equipped gym with 4 badminton courts, a basketball court, 4 cricket fields, 12 artificial tennis courts, rugby, lacrosse, hockey, football fields. The fitness centre offers strength training and cardiclasses with all the necessary equipment.

PROGRAM

Junior school (10-12 years)

All children are taught under the guidance of excellent, highly qualified and experienced teachers. The class teacher plays an important role in education and each teacher seeks satisfy the needs and abilities of each child. Education takes place in small classes; a climate is created for the formation of a child’s self-esteem and his confidence in himself and his abilities. The methods of training are different: it is individual learning, and group work. The curriculum is designed in such a way as promote the development of responsibility, independence of judgment and confidence in children.

High school (12-18 years)

The school offers study programs: GCSE for a certificate of general secondary education and Sixth Form for taking an exam in a high school program at an advanced level and preparing for university entrance.

Pre-GCSE: 12-14 years old

Preparing for the GCSE program. Foreign students additionally learn English.

GCSE: 14-16 years old

The program for obtaining a certificate of general secondary education. Required subjects: 7 subjects and 4 optional subjects.

A-Level: 16-18 years old

A two-year university preparatory program. Students choose 4-5 subjects in the first year of study and 3-4 subjects in the second year. Subjects are selected in accordance with the requirements that are required for admission tthe university chosen by the student.

English as a second language

Foreign students can additionally study English. The program aims thelp students improve reading and writing skills, faster and deeper understanding of the main curriculum. Students have the opportunity tpass the IELTS exam, which is necessary for foreign students tenter British universities.

Golf academy

The LorettGolf Academy was opened in 2002 and is one of the best golf schools in the UK. This is an ideal opportunity tcombine training with regular golf training, tdevelop sports talents. The Academy provides students with all the necessary equipment, including professional artificial golf courses. Training is conducted by professional trainers. The Academy is run by Rick Valentine, a professional golfer, holder of a university degree in sports sciences, winner of many championships. During the year, there are many competitions for players of various levels, where students can show their achievements, hone their skills and improve game skills.

ACCOMMODATION

6 residences for children in the school. All residences offer very good conditions for study and relaxation. All rooms are single / double, bright and well equipped. All residences have a common lounge, where students can gather twatch movies or programs, for games. Each house has a kitchen, computer room and laundry services.

SPORT

Sport plays an important role in the educational process. Students can choose sports such as golf, hockey, lacrosse, cricket, rock climbing, karate, squash, tennis, rugby, fitness, chess, ballet, swimming, horse riding, athletics.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

The school provides ideal conditions for playing music. About 60% of students take individual music lessons. The school has its own recording studio. Concerts and performances are constantly held, both at school and beyond, this recognition further encourages students tdevelop their talents.

The school provides ample opportunities for art classes. 6 studios, a room for developing photos, a pottery workshop, a workshop for working on wood. Students regularly travel tEdinburgh, visit galleries and exhibitions. LorettSchool even has its own gallery, which periodically hosts exhibitions of works by students and teachers.

Many students take an active part in theatrical productions, have the opportunity tattend concerts, operas, ballet in Edinburgh. At Christmas, students always prepare plays, musicals, and musical performances.
