Kingswood School

Kingswood School is a private boarding school, was founded in 1748 and is famous for its rich pedagogical and spiritual tradition.

The school is located in a huge park in the north of the city of Bath - the famous historical and cultural centre of England. The school is located on a hill with a picturesque view of the city. The train station is located just a 15-minute walk from the school; the train journey to London takes about an hour and a half. The nearest Bristol airport is just an hour away.

The famous resort and tourist town of Bournemouth, famous for the best beaches in England, is about 2 hours away from the student city of Oxford - just an hour by train.

The school has about 1100 students.

EQUIPMENT

The school has excellent equipment: 8 rugby fields, many football fields, 3 cricket fields, 10 tennis courts, a 400-meter athletic track, a field for hockey with special lighting, a large sports hall with badminton, netball, volleyball, hockey and futsal, a new climbing wall. In addition to this, the school has two squash courts and a fully equipped fitness studio, and a heated indoor pool.

There is a centre of technology and design, an excellent library, studios for practicing various musical instruments (piano, harp, guitar, strings, winds, percussion), a school theatre with 366 seats.

PROGRAM

Bath The curriculum offers a wide variety of subjects and is specifically designed to meet the needs of each child. For training subjects are invited qualified specialists in these areas. A maximum of 20 students are enrolled in each class. The school also has a faculty of educational support, where children who have difficulties in learning can receive individual assistance.

Pupils are given homework for which they are given 20 to 40 minutes a day, depending on age. Teachers believe that learning should be interesting and fun, so themed days and trips are often organized at school.

High school

In high school, two programs are offered:

GCSE

The secondary school program for a certificate of secondary education (General Certificate of Secondary Education).

A-level

A pre-university 2-year program aimed at preparing and passing exams in a number of disciplines and obtaining a certificate of "advanced" level Advanced Level General Certificate of Education. In the first year of study (AS-level), students’ study 4-5 subjects, in the second - 3-4.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Children live in a residence on the school grounds. From the windows of the bedrooms it opens a very picturesque view. Near the residence there is a large and safe garden, bordering a small forest, where children have the opportunity to play, frolic and enjoy nature all year round.

Elementary school students who are just starting to gain experience living away from their families are housed in the modern, well-equipped rooms, next to the garden and playgrounds. Mentors live with the children who help to cope with all domestic issues. The hostel has a total of 20 children, and each is given maximum attention.

At the age of 11, children go to residences for older students (7 houses in total). Each residence has its own name and traditions. Students often arrange competitions between residences. Each house has lounges and a small kitchen. Each house is run by a house manager and a team of assistants. Boys and girls live in different houses.

Pupils eat in the school cafeteria. Twice a year, the menu is reviewed, new dishes are introduced considering the wishes of the students. There are different types of diets.

SPORT

The school is very strong in sports. Pupils take part in competitions at the national and international level. The school has connections with various sports clubs in the country, and school students can train not only in the school, but also in the most advanced clubs.

Sports for girls: hockey, cross-country, aerobics, netball, swimming, tennis, athletics.

Sports for boys: rugby, cross-country, hockey, swimming, cricket, tennis, athletics.

In addition, you can engage in orienteering, football, badminton, table tennis, squash, golf, dancing, rowing, jogging, horse riding. In the elementary school are also available: judo, fencing, kayaking, triathlon.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

After classes, students have at their disposal numerous clubs and clubs: a club of French cinema, a book club, comedy improvisation, a boat club, a writing club, dancing, chess, an eco-school, stained glass art and much more.

Many students learn to play one or another musical instrument, and about 300 individual musical lessons take place per week: guitar, saxophone, piano, drums, violin. There is a jazz group that participates in British and foreign competitions, a modern recording studio works. Master classes by famous musicians are regularly held.

School theatre plays are also popular outside the school. In the theatre, children learn various aspects related to the theatrical art: write scripts, stage light and sound, and, of course, learn about acting. During the year, there are many productions involving children.
