Sherborne International College, founded in 1977 in Dorset, is part of the renowned Sherborne School. College graduates enter prestigious English schools such as Sherborne (boys), Sherborne (girls), Charterhouse, Downside, Haileybury school, Harrow School, Marlborough College and Rugby School.

Sherborne International School is a 2.5-hour drive west of London's Heathrow Airport. The historic town of Sherborne is located in Dorset. There is a train station that allows direct access to the Waterloo station in London.

PROGRAM

Intensive English + academic subjects (8-17 years)

30 English lessons per week + training in general subjects: geography, history, mathematics, natural sciences, information and computer technologies, art, theatre, culture. Upon request, individual lessons can be booked.

Preparation for GCSE / IGCSE (13-17 years old)

A course for students who are about to enrol in high school in the UK. The course includes 30 lessons per week. In addition to general English and theatrical mastery, which takes 6 lessons per week, the students study 4 subjects from the list below: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, history, English and English literature. Each item is allocated 6 hours a week. Upon request, individual lessons can be booked. Students with a level of language knowledge of at least B1 are accepted for the course.

Preparation for A-level or IB Diploma (15-17 years)

A course for students who are about to enrol in their final years of high school in the UK. The course includes 30 lessons per week. Classes in the English language include the analysis of certain literature and work on projects on various topics; development of research skills in English or selected subjects, preparation for the exam (for example, for IELTS), as well as participation in theatre classes (6 hours a week), where children will be able to reveal themselves and feel more confident during presentations.

It is necessary to choose 4 subjects that are studied 6 hours a week: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, history, English and English literature. If desired, students preparing for the IB Diploma course can be supplemented with this list of theory of knowledge and preparation of essay writing. Each item is allocated 5 hours a week. Upon request, individual lessons can be booked. Students with a language level of at least B2 are accepted.

The Global Leadership Programme (15-17 years)

The Global Leadership Programme is a challenging, stimulating 2 week course aimed at preparing students, aged 15-17, with key skills required from global leaders of tomorrow. Designed to meet the demands of our fast changing world, participants will have the opportunity to work together with other international students to: think creatively and solve problems; analyse sources more critically; communicate views confidently and effectively; and to heighten their awareness of global issues and political ideologies. 

The Global Leadership Programme will give students:

  • Confidence in speaking in public
  • Knowledge of theoretical issues affecting leaders of today
  • Skills in collating and analysing data
  • Experience of market research and knowledge of its principles
  • Awareness of political ideologies
  • Team working, problem solving and communication skills
  • Time management and study techniques

Accommodation

In the new residences in comfortable single and double rooms, there are rooms for three and four. Most rooms have washbasins. Girls and boys live separately.

Meals - full board + afternoon snack.

On the school grounds there is a staff member who oversees order, a school doctor and a nurse who are ready to provide first aid or take to the hospital if necessary. All events, sports, excursions are conducted under the supervision of school staff.

SPORT

Badminton, basketball, fishing, fitness, football, golf, horse riding, rock climbing, rounders, sailing, kayaking, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, trampoline, volleyball, yoga, archery.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Interactive learning English (using computer programs), art, an online club, quizzes, bingo, talent shows, fashion shows, theme nights, tournaments, games, karaoke, cinema, shopping, barbecue, picnics.

EXCURSIONS

1 full day excursion and 1 half day excursion. Examples of excursions: amusement parks, Stonehenge, Bristol, Bath, Windsor, Wookiee Caves in Wales, Weymouth.

For an additional fee, children 13 years and older can go on an excursion to London: a walk on the Thames or a visit to the London Eye with a walk on Parliament Square and shopping on Oxford Street.
