IH London summer courses take place in Oxford and Ellesmere.

Oxford is located in the heart of England. It is a small and very beautiful city full of culture and history. Here are majestic buildings, museums, art galleries, cafes and shops. The atmosphere of the city is cosmopolitan and very lively. Nearby are Bath, Birmingham, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Ellesmere is a great place for young people who like to spend time outdoors. The school is located between England and Wales, in a beautiful countryside surrounded by hills. Manchester and Liverpool Airports are nearby.

In Ellesmere, courses take place at Ellesmere College, one of the UK's best boarding schools. The school has a national reputation for sports, it has the most modern sports equipment: a golf course, 6 tennis courts, playing fields, 3 cricket fields, an indoor pool, a gym, gymnastics and fitness centres. The school has modern classrooms that are well equipped for study.

PROGRAM

Active English (12-17 years old)

Teaching English + a variety of sports and creative activities under the guidance of professional trainers and teachers.

English classes are held in the mornings (from 9:30 to 12:20 with a break). After lunch (from 14:00 to 15:30), an exciting activity program awaits the children (6 hours of training per week). Children will be able to significantly improve their sports training, learn new techniques and skills. In the process of classes, students train English in practice.

English Plus (12-17 years old)

Intensive English course (21 hours a week). This is a course for those who want to maximize their language learning.

Students will improve spoken English, increase vocabulary, and will be able to develop skills that are useful when passing exams. The course is suitable for those who plan to start studying in British boarding schools in the near future and want to get the experience of living and studying away from home.

English classes are held in the morning (from 9:30 to 12:20 with a break) and in the afternoon (from 14:00 to 15:30). Classes are held in a very lively and interactive atmosphere. Students constantly speak English, learn to use the language in everyday situations. In the process of training, English is trained in practice.

Discover English (8-11 years old - program in Ellesmere)

An ideal course for those who want to improve their knowledge of spoken and written English.

Classes are held in the morning (from 9:00 to 12:20 with a break). The program includes 15 hours of English per week. After lunch, various sporting events and art and craft classes are held. Students choose their own activities. The school offers the following options:

Sports: tennis, football, English bast shoes, frisbee, table tennis, hiking, badminton, mini Olympic games, rugby, cricket, hockey, bouncers.

Arts and crafts: drawings on T-shirts, painting, sketching, creating key chains, creating flags.

Future Leaders (14-17 years old - program in Oxford)

Course start date: July 8, July 29, 2020.

Duration: 2 weeks.

Course for active and motivated children.

Students will be able to develop basic skills that are highly valued by universities and employers: critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, creating and presenting presentations. Training takes place in an international context, with a focus on business topics and entrepreneurship. Pupils are working on their own projects, which they will present upon completion of training.

The school suggests choosing one of three topics on which students will work for 2 weeks:

• Entrepreneurship and leadership skills (business topics)
• Pre-university training (experience at university level)

The course program includes master classes with invited experts, participation in debates, visits to the Saïd business school at Oxford University.

To learn the course, an English level of at least B2 is required. Work on the project begins before arriving at the course. Online, children work with other participants and begin preparing a presentation. In the process of learning the course, students complete the project.

ACCOMMODATION

Living in a residence on the school grounds in a very comfortable atmosphere where students can relax after an eventful day. Both Oxford and Ellesmere offer different types of accommodation: single, double and multi-bed rooms. Boys and girls live separately. Each student has a personal desktop, a closet and a chest of drawers for things. The residences have comfortable common recreation areas with a TV, all day there are snacks and light drinks. The nurse lives in the residence, who can be contacted if necessary.

ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES

Every evening from 19:30 to 22:00 an entertainment program is organized for all students: quiz games, movie watching, karaoke, fashion shows, team games, casinos and discos.

EXCURSIONS

In Oxford:

Oxford is the perfect place to start exploring the sights of the UK. Children will be able to spend time in the centre of Oxford, where so many interesting things. In addition, excursions include trips to the cities:

• London with a visit to the Ferris Wheel, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and many other places. Children will also have time for fun shopping.
• Bath - a historical city where the remains of the Roman Empire are preserved.
• Stratford-upon-Avon - the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
• Birmingham - the second largest city in England, where children visit the Cadbury chocolate factory and learn the history of the famous brand.
• A visit to the Warwick Castle - an impressive medieval fortress.

In Ellesmere:

Children will visit the modern cities of England and Wales, as well as castles and attractions, where they learn more about English history.

• Manchester is a vibrant, multinational city where children visit the Manchester United Football Club, the Manchester Museum, the National Football Museum, and the art gallery.
• Liverpool is a historic city that gave birth to The Beatles. Children will visit the Beatles Museum, the Maritime Museum and the popular Tate Gallery.
