CATS College is a private educational institution preparing to enter universities. The college is part of the Cambridge Education Group, which was founded in 1952. The Cambridge educational group includes a number of educational institutions preparing for higher education, and language schools.

CATS College has three branches in the UK and one in Boston, USA. Every year, students from more than 80 countries of the world study here.

Boston is the capital and largest city of the state of Massachusetts. Boston is also the largest city in the region, known as New England, as well as one of the oldest and richest cities in the United States.

Boston is a beautiful city with monuments and parks, combining centuries-old traditions with a modern pace of life. It is the most academic city in America. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded here in 1780, the University of Boston in 1869, and Northeastern University in 1898. In the surrounding area there are seventy colleges and universities, which educate more than 250 thousand students.

EQUIPMENT

The campus occupies 19 acres of beautiful territory surrounded by trees and greenery. It is a 10-minute walk from the main local shopping centre, South Shore Plaza, and a 10-minute walk from the beach.

Training takes place in a new building. There are 36 modern classrooms, 4 linguistic classrooms, 9 equipped scientific laboratories, computer classes, including with iMac and iPad computers, as well as a modern 3D printer.

The campus has a multifunctional sports hall with 700 seats, a stage for musical performances, a theatre, a dance studio and a yoga studio, football and athletic fields, 2 art studios, and rooms for musical rehearsals.

PROGRAM

Ivy Leadership Program

The minimum level of English is B2.

The program for students planning to enter US universities. The program allows you to explore the best learning options at the university and at the same time get to know Boston.

Students will gain experience in a real American school. The program includes: classes in English as a foreign language, preparation for the SAT exam, attending seminars to prepare for admission to American colleges, writing your own essay for admission.

Students will also visit prestigious Ivy League universities: Harvard, Brown University, Yale University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and others. Studying and talking with university students will allow you to feel what it is like: to get a higher education in an American university.

STEM

The minimum level of English is B2.

The program is for science-enthusiastic students who want to understand how science, mathematics and programming work in life and solve real problems.

The program includes the following classes:

  • Applied mathematics and its capabilities in solving engineering and technological problems
  • Programming
  • Experimental chemistry
  • Study materials

During the training, a physical engineering competition between the teams is held: each team together solves a practical problem and presents its solution to the rest of the students.

Coding Camp

The minimum level of English is B2.

For students who have a natural curiosity about the world and an interest in modern technology and applications. Explore ideas, experiment with materials, and build your own devices while on field trips and on campus. You will also meet local artisans, engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs, whilst exploring the city of Boston.

You will:

  • create your own video game
  • visit top U.S. universities including MIT.

Textiles and Fashion Design

The minimum level of English is IELTS 5.0+/Intermediate.

Develop your skills in: Design, Illustration, Pattern Draping & Drafting, Garment Construction.

This program is for artists looking to contribute to the ever-evolving fashion world. Students will discuss trends and the future of fashion, from gender and sustainability to materiality, and learn to apply those concepts to the design and creation of a finished garment to add to their portfolio—or better yet, their wardrobe.

Students will take part in at least 25 hours of practical skills workshops and will design and construct their own garment for a run way show.

Illustration and Comics

The minimum level of English is IELTS 5.0+/Intermediate.

For students who want to apply their drawing talents to the art of comic book storytelling. Learn about the many Influences comics, and their characters, have had on society. You will gain an understanding of effective visual storytelling techniques as well as best practices for the comic creation process. Using traditional materials such as pencil and ink, you will create a visual narrative accompanied by a written script.

Students will take part in at least 25 hours of practical lectures and skills workshops They will design, create and present a comic to their class.

Film making

Through workshops, group projects and practical tasks, you will become acquainted with the skills and knowledge that will serve as a perfect starting point for future education and possible careers in the Film and TV production industry. Throughout the course you will become familiar with storyboarding, visual effects, special effects and animation along with relevant software such as Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.

Photography

You will use Cambridge as your inspiration to create an image portfolio. You will learn how to use different cameras and settings for the best effect. During the digital photography component you will learn to manipulate and print digital images on a computer before printing electronically. During the film photography component you will learn all about taking and developing your own photographs from initial concept to printed image.

Develop skills in: Photo editing | Film development | SLR training

ACCOMMODATION

Residence in a single room. All rooms are newly renovated, each has a bathroom. There is a common TV lounge where students meet in the evenings and socialize in an informal setting. Near the residence there is a 24-hour medical centre. There is WI-FI throughout the campus.

SPORT

Sport allows students to stay awake and active throughout the entire training period. To maintain team spirit and competitiveness, competitions are held, including between colleges.
