National Mathematics and Science College (NMSC)

The National College of Mathematics and Science is located in the historic centre of Coventry, an hour's drive from London. This is an elite Sixth form college for talented young people who aspire to become future leaders in research, development and practical work.

Students have the opportunity to get outstanding A-level results and access to the best universities in the world. Among them: Oxford and Cambridge, universities of the Russell group in the UK and universities of the Ivy League in the USA (Harvard, Yale, Princeton and others).

Teachers and students are truly passionate about science and mathematics. NMSC specialize in teaching mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and economics.

EQUIPMENT

Teachers actively use iPads to help learn and engage students in the process. Outside the classroom, all students also have access to them.

On the campus there are six tennis courts, a gym, a cricket and rugby field, two football fields, gyms for badminton, basketball and volleyball, as well as a swimming pool. The college has an art classroom, which students can use at any time. On campus there is a library, computer labs and modern equipped laboratories for experiments in physics, chemistry and biology.

PROGRAM

A-level

Two-year program.

Pupils can study up to 4 subjects, one of which is mathematics. Additionally, you can choose economics, biology, chemistry, physics, computer technology, English. For example, it is recommended that students who are going to study medicine, dentistry and pharmacology at leading universities, as well as future law students, choose to choose chemistry to demonstrate that they can understand complex concepts, as well as students who are going to study natural sciences, physics, mathematics, analytical chemistry.

The subject of computer technology focuses on computational thinking. Particular attention is paid to abstract thinking, problem solving, algorithmic and mathematical explanation, scientific and engineering approach.

Pre a-level

The duration of the program is 1 year.

The main goal of the course is to help foreign high school students (15-16 years old) prepare for the A-level academic course program at the NMSC. Much attention is paid to the English language and the cultural adaptation of students. The task is to prepare students for the exam "excellent", i.e. on A or A *. The students in the preparatory course are taught by the same teachers who teach the basic A-level course.

Crash Course A-level

The duration of the program is 1 year.

Intensive course for the most capable and motivated students. For training, an English level of at least IELTS 6.5 and a high level of knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences are required. This is an ideal course for training in such areas as: engineering specialties, computer science, mathematics, physics, astrophysics, economics, business and finance.

Preparation for medical universities

Two-year program.

Medicine is one of the most complex and most sought-after areas in the UK. The preparatory course focuses on key areas necessary for successful admission to medical specialties. Mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics are studied.

Classes are taught by subject teachers with extensive experience, and training takes place in small classes. Students receive the individual attention they need to fully understand the material.

Classes are held in modern equipped laboratories and focused on practical work, which is most highly valued by medical universities upon admission. Students regularly practice at local hospitals, and in summer work at one of London’s leading hospitals.

ACCOMMODATION

The residence is located in the heart of Coventry - in the immediate vicinity of shops, museums, cinema and cafes. Unlike the campus of a traditional boarding school, NMSC students have the opportunity, under the supervision of guardians, to spend their leisure time exploring the sights of Coventry.

Boys and girls are accommodated on different floors, single occupancy in a studio room, with amenities and a shared kitchen. Access to the building is via electronic cards. Electronic cards are also used to access the rooms themselves.

The residence has a gym, TV area, common area, dining room and laundry. Each studio room is cleaned weekly, and linen and towels are also changed. Students have access to a kitchenette, where they can prepare a snack for themselves.

Pupils will reach their potential only if they have their own personal space in which they feel physically and emotionally at home.

You can get from the NMSC academic building on a special minibus plying between the residence and the educational block.

SPORT

The college has a well-developed sports infrastructure. All students have access to first-class sports facilities 7 days a week. In addition to the gyms at Study Inn, students have access to Xcel, a state-of-the-art sports centre, opened in 2008. It is located just a few meters from the training block and offers a huge number of sports facilities outside and inside. Six tennis courts, a gym, a cricket and rugby field, two football fields, gyms for badminton, basketball and volleyball, as well as a swimming pool are open here.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Creativity is inherent in the sciences, and the greatest scientific minds in history have found inspiration and pleasure in art. The college allows students to express themselves freely through visual arts, music, writing, theatre, and more. A variety of recreational activities are offered, including theatre workshops organized by the theatre and sports events. The college has a special art classroom that students can use at any time.

The college monitors not only the academic successes of students, but also the harmonious development of each. At school, you can do vocals, acting, music or oratory, join a book, science or film club. Creative lessons are taught by professionals from theatre and music organizations such as the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

The college has a lot of extracurricular activities that others do not have, such as the Parliament Club, which allows students to attend meetings of the British Parliament, communicate with members of the government and see the work of politicians from the inside.
