Millfield Senior School

Millfield School, founded in 1935, today is one of the most prestigious and largest private schools in the UK. 1250 people study in it. The school is located in the amazingly beautiful area of the county of Somerset - in the city of Street, 2 hours from London and has a huge private territory of about 50 hectares.

The school is located in picturesque countryside near the historic town of Glastonbury and the ancient city of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

PROGRAM

GCSE

At 10 and 11 years of study, students choose from 6 to 12 subjects for which they will pass the GCSE (certificate of general secondary education).

A-level

Two-year course. The curriculum consists of 4 blocks. From each block, the student selects one subject to study. In the second year, only 3 subjects are selected for study.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

The school has 19 residences: 7 houses for girls and 12 houses for boys. Accommodation in 1-2-bed rooms. Almost all rooms have a bathroom and toilet. Each student has a workplace and his own closet for storing things. All residences are equipped with modern appliances and furniture. Each residence has a common room with a TV and DVD, Wi-Fi, a kitchen where you can prepare light snacks.

Meals - full board, meals take place in a large school cafeteria. It is possible to select a special diet in accordance with individual, medical or religious preferences.

Each house is run by experienced leaders - children are constantly supervised.

Our first thought, when the taxi driver drove us to a place called Street and showed different school buildings and sports fields, was: “It can’t be!”

We have never seen such a vast territory - 150 acres (60 hectares). If there are any sports that cannot be practiced at Millfield, then, without exaggeration, this list will be extremely short. Read more

Millfield is the Olympic Village of Great Britain. The list of world and OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS trained here is endless. Although the academic unit - very high by English standards - has never been Millfield's strong point, it remains a FAMOUS boarding school, which, unlike many British schools, accepts children with a wide variety of abilities.

However, in fairness, it is worth noting that the “academically weak” British school is 27% of EXCELLENTS in the final class! Just imagine: 27 out of 100 are medallists.
