Millfield Preparatory School is an independent educational institution at the same time, and at the same time it is the “younger half” of one of the largest British joint schools of the Millfield type, founded in 1935. EQUIPMENT

The school also has a stable for horses and those who wish, by agreement with the school, can take riding lessons or playing polo. PROGRAM

Millfield holds the belief that each child is unique and therefore deserves as much care and attention as he needs to reach his potential. At the same time, students are encouraged to be independent and responsible; attentive, generous and tolerant of oneself and others; Be persistent in achieving your goals succeed in a wide variety of activities. They seek to give children such skills that will be useful both in their further studies and in life.

Since the main task of Prep School is to prepare their students for the transition to high school (Millfield Senior School or another private school), the same attention is paid to issues of psychological preparation as academic, sports and creative development. All classes are held in small groups, under the strict guidance of teachers and staff (adult-child ratio 1: 8), which means that each child is provided with an individual approach.

There are about the same number of girls and boys at school, and as adherents of coeducation, Millfield Prep employees seek to capitalize on the “differences” of both sexes. In addition, Millfield Prep is proud of its multinational composition of students (about 8% of foreigners).

Children who need help learning English are under the tutelage of a team of EAL teachers (English as an additional language). For them, English lessons are held in small groups or individually.

Junior department (7-11 years old)

From 7 to 9 years (Year 3 to 5), students learn mathematics and English in accordance with their abilities. From 10 years (Year 6), students also learn mathematics and English, which are already taught by specialist teachers in each subject. Classes are led by a group mentor who is responsible for the overall program and welfare of the student; and also teaches many lessons. It is important that all students have a good command of English and mathematics, and the staff of the Junior Department also taught natural sciences, humanities and art. Other subjects, such as design and technology, ICT, languages, music, drama and physical education, are taught by subject specialists who have experience in teaching young students).

Individual department (10-13 years old)

At the 6-8 year of study (10-13 years), your child will study with some additional subject teachers and classroom tutors. The program will continue to be monitored by the group leader, who will also carefully and friendlily monitor how the child develops outside the class - in sports, music and other activities. English and math are still central to the curriculum. Students also study: physics, chemistry, biology, humanities, religious studies, visual arts, food technology, design and technology, computer technology and ICT, on the basis of the international entry-level curriculum they study: music, drama and physical education. Options for possible foreign languages ​​include French, Spanish, and Latin.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

The school has 5 boarding houses located close to each other on campus. Boys and girls live separately in different houses. Children live in rooms of 3-5 people. Toilets and showers are located on the floor. The houses have lounges where you can watch TV and video, a kitchen where students can make tea or coffee, a vending machine with drinks, and phones.

The houses are run by House parents, as a rule, these are married couples who live here with their children and are called upon to provide a warm family atmosphere to their wards, to organize their leisure time after classes and on weekends. They also keep in touch with curators, teachers and parents, providing comprehensive assistance and support.

SPORT

The school has a very good reputation in children's sports education. A balanced sports program, considering the individual characteristics of each student, allows you to raise healthy, confident children who will be devoted to sports for a long time. Physical education is given 3.5 hours a week as part of the curriculum. In addition, students can take part in various games, training and tournaments in their free time.
