Foremarke Hall, Repton Preparatory School is a co-educational preparatory school in the village of Foremark, Derbyshire. She has close ties to Repton School School.

Repton Prep School was founded in 1940.

Foremarke Hall is an elegant mansion located in a beautiful area of ​​20 hectares and is the main building of the school. The estate was built in 1761 and was used as a military hospital during the First World War and as a training unit for cadet officers during the Second World War.

PROGRAM

Upper School Program (10-13 years old)

The high school curriculum is based on prior learning and encourages children to become independent and active students.

Main subjects: English, mathematics, natural sciences, French, geography, history, religious studies, classics, information and communication technologies (ICT), design and technology, art, drama, music, physical education, PSHCE (personal education, social education and health education).

English teachers play a leading role in providing students with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to effectively read, write, speak and listen. Language is the main means by which students learn and express themselves in the curriculum, and all teachers are interested in effective literacy.

The English Language Department is supported by training improvement specialists and EAL specialists (English as an additional language, for whom it is not native).

At the age of 11-13, children are preparing for general entrance exams and for transition to high school.

ACCOMMODATION

A warm family atmosphere helps children grow and develop in the school environment, a careful approach ensures that each student will feel support and their value in school life. Children build lasting friendships while staying at Foremarke, and they have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the school community and all that the school has to offer.

The opportunities that students receive in the hostel allow them to develop self-confidence. They can participate in all extracurricular activities, engage in sports, theatre and music.

Children get a lot of exercise and fun from the school’s intense sports program. In the department of physical education (PE) there are 5 specialists who constantly teach at the school. At the age of 11-13, a large number of matches are held during all three semesters in the main sports, up to 4 teams are formed. Other competitive sports offered at Foremarke include swimming, athletics, fencing and tennis.

Additional classes

Music plays an integral part of life at Foremarke Hall. From the very beginning until the 8th year of study, all students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of classroom and extracurricular music events. The superb music department has 28 professional musicians offering over 350 lessons per week.

All students in preparatory school attend weekly music classes, covering traditional classical music of Western Europe, world music, jazz and popular music. Children also study theory and composition, learn to record music, and as soon as their compositions meet the standards, they use the Sibelius musical score editor in the IT room.

Training is provided on various instruments: from piano to organ. Pupils play in a brass band, jazz band, guitar ensemble, string quartet, string orchestra and flute ensemble, sing in the choir.

The new colourful and light-filled department of contemporary art, art and ceramics opened in September 2013.

Drawing and painting are the main activities, although each child has the opportunity to work in the ceramics department, which involves them in at least one project in each school year. Multimedia projects are also part of the curriculum. At the end of the 7th year of study, students with a particularly strong interest and abilities in this subject are invited to participate in the scholarship program.

Pensioners also have the opportunity to work at an art school in the evenings and on Sundays.

School clubs and events range from physical and mental to relaxing, creative and artistic. About 40 events are held each semester for high school students and 28 events for primary school students.

Adventure is an important integral part of the learning process at Foremarke, where students work on independence, team building and leadership.
