Taunton School is a traditional private British school located near the city of Taunton, in the south-west of England. The school was founded in 1847. This is one of the most prestigious schools in England.

PROGRAM

Junior Summer School (8-12 years)

The program is particularly popular among young students who seek to study English and other subjects at a British boarding school. The course provides a wide selection of useful and interesting training programs. All the time, students are supervised by adults. The curriculum is complemented by a large number of diverse circles, sports, music, theatre, art and creative events.

For children, this is an excellent preparation for studying in boarding schools in the UK. The program includes 15 hours of English per week. Classes focus on improving spoken and written English, developing vocabulary, writing and reading skills, and developing confidence. 10 hours a week devoted to the study of academic subjects. During the course, students can choose up to 6 subjects: mathematics, combined sciences, history, geography, design and technology, art and computer technology.

For children, 3 additional programs are available:

Senior Summer School (13-17 years old)

The school conducts an academic course, which is ideal in order to prepare for exams, continue to study at a British boarding school, or simply spend an interesting and useful vacation. During the classes, along with an accelerated English course, it is planned to study such school subjects as mathematics, natural sciences, geography, computer science and communication technology, study of business processes, modern languages, needlework, visual arts, theater, sports, history, German language, literature.

The course is designed specifically as an introductory program to the IB system. Pupils study 25 hours a week in small classes (maximum 10 students). The program includes 15 hours of English and 10 hours of academic subjects per week. Also, students can choose additional subjects for study every week. At the end of the course, students take an officially recognized English proficiency test.

Pre-sessional course

Dates: August 18-28, 2024.

A ten-day course offering training in two programs: GCSE (14-15 years) and Sixth Form (16-17 years).

The program is ideal for preparing foreign students to enter British schools for the A-level and IB (International Baccalaureate) programs. Students will not only know English better, but will also receive the necessary skills for further education.

Every day passes 3 hours of intensive English classes and 2 hours of academic preparation, including lessons, lectures, seminars on the following topics:

• vocabulary development
• listening
• improving writing skills, including essay writing
• reading and fast reading techniques
• pronunciation, diction and debate
• ability to quickly navigate the examination sheets
• stress management
• answers to questions of examiners

Extended Pre-sessional course

Dates: August 18 - September 1, 2024.

The Extended Pre-Sessional Course is an additional 5 days which bridges the gap between the end of the 10 day Pre-Sessional Course and the start of term.

ACCOMMODATION

Students live in comfortable homes on campus. On each floor there are mentors who take care of children 24 hours a day.
