The educational company Bede’s Summer School was founded in 1993 and organizes summer courses in the UK. The company has 7 centres where summer educational programs are held. Every year, children come here from around the world. According to EL Gazette, Bede’s Summer School is one of the best on the market. All company training centres have been accredited by the British Council.

The summer program takes place at Lancing College. The school was founded in 1848 and is located in the county of West Sussex, near Brighton. It takes 1.5 hours by car to London. The school is located in a very picturesque area where one of the most beautiful churches on the south coast of England is located. From the school there is a very beautiful view of the sea.

Bede's summer school aims to give children a new cultural experience and an unforgettable experience. At school, 230 children study at the same time.

In summer courses, students will be able to

EQUIPMENT

The school is architecturally similar in style to Oxford and Cambridge universities. The magnificent Gothic buildings of Lancing college include an impressive large dining room and a chapel, which is listed as a building of national importance.

The campus covers an area of ​​22 hectares and is an impressive ensemble consisting of educational buildings, residences, sports facilities, courtyards and even your own farm. The school has a theatre with 156 seats.

The school has excellent sports equipment: a gym, a 25-meter indoor pool, 3 squash courts, a multifunctional gym, all-weather sports fields, all-weather cricket fields, 6 grass tennis courts and 22 hard courts, equipped dance studio, which is also used for fencing and martial arts.

PROGRAM

The English Plus program includes 22.5 hours of lessons per week and is available for children of six language levels: from A1-A2 (elementary) to C2 (advanced). Absolute beginners are not accepted for the program. Weekly tests are a test of student progress.

Before the start of classes, children write a test, according to the results of which they are divided into groups according to the level of English, age and nationality.

The school offers the opportunity to take the Cambridge B2 First and Cambridge C1 Advanced exams (for children under 18 years of age). Cost: £475.

In the classroom, students develop knowledge of English and deepen their knowledge of British culture using real materials: advertising, flyers, television programs, short films, newspaper articles and magazines.

Part of the training are research projects. Working in groups, students complete daily research assignments based on the topic of the week or topics of interest to children. Then the guys present their findings and conclusions in the form of a sketch, show presentation, debate or news story.

Thus, not only conversational and communication skills are developed, but also social and interpersonal communication skills. Between classes, competitions for the best project are organized, and a prize is awarded to the winners.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Accommodation in a residence on the school grounds. Boys and girls live in different houses. Most of the rooms are single and double, with a shared bathroom and toilet. The houses have common lounges where they can chat and relax after class. Most homes have Wi-Fi.

School staff look after children 24 hours a day. The ratio of students and staff: 1: 5, each child has almost individual attention. There is a nurse at school, if necessary, children may appear to the doctor.

Meals in the school cafeteria, where children are offered a healthy balanced menu, which includes English and international dishes. There is a menu for vegetarians and a separate menu for special diets.

SPORT AND ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

After lessons, children participate in various activities. This makes it possible to continue studying outside the classroom in small groups, but at the same time it is a very fun pastime.

Activities: theatre, stage decoration, fashion design, painting, modelling, singing, aerobics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, dancing, bouncers, soccer, netball, tennis, rugby, squash, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, yoga, Zumba.

Instead of daytime activities, students can attend the Academy. The Academy program offers classes for children who want to develop their skills, technique and confidence in certain sports and hobbies. In the classroom, specific English vocabulary is very well fixed. The training is conducted by qualified Bede's trainers or invited sports trainers. Students can choose 1 Academy per week.

ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES

An evening entertainment program is held every evening, so that the guys make new friends and develop their social skills. By actively encouraging a mixture of nationalities, the school helps create a harmonious international community in which students can live and study in comfortable conditions and enjoy life. Evening activities help children learn how to use English in natural conversational situations in real life.

Examples of events: disco, fashion show, formal dinner and dance, competition between houses, karaoke, music quiz, pool party.

EXCURSIONS

Excursions are a mandatory part of the program. The school offers the opportunity to visit places of cultural and historical interest. Excursions expand the cultural experience of children, provide opportunities for interaction with the real world in a fun, laid-back and truly interesting form.

On Wednesdays there is a half-day entertaining excursion to local attractions or to a neighbouring city, for example, golf, beach volleyball, visiting a castle or a country park, climbing, going to a museum, visiting a pier, ice skating, shopping at a street market.

A Saturday tour is a full day trip to London and visits to attractions such as the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, London Eye Ferris Wheel, London Zoo, Madame Tussauds Museum, National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Amusement Park, Tower of London, Westminster abbey.

Sunday excursions are calmer, usually trips to the local coastal city: Brighton, Chichester, Eastbourne, Hastings or Worthing. Here, children can stroll along the beach, dine in the park and shop.
