Discovery Summer (ACS Cobham)
Discovery Summer will be back at ACS Cobham in 2025
Age: 11-12 years old, 12-16 years old.
Dates, 2023:
11-12 years old: July 1-15 for 2 weeks.
12-16 years old: July 1-22 for 1, 2 or 3 weeks.
ACS Cobham School is located in a private estate, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The school is 24 km from central London, close to major attractions. Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are a 45-minute drive away.
This impressive international school is located on a 50-hectare guarded campus with excellent conditions for study, creative studies and leisure.
In summer, the school runs the Discovery Summer program:
- For children 11-12 years old - English course + activities
- For children 12-16 years old - the course "Young Leaders"
KEY FACTORS
- Small classes - maximum 15 people (for younger students - 12).

- Great baby sitting. In the group of 10-13 years old - 1 employee for 4 children. In the group of 12-16 years old - each student has an individual mentor who helps in the implementation of goals.

EQUIPMENT
The school has excellent sports equipment: an indoor 25-meter 6-lane pool, a first-class gym, a dance studio, a modern gym, an Olympic-size athletics track, soccer fields and 6 all-weather tennis courts. There is a modern theatre with 500 seats, a theatre and art studio, computer classes.
PROGRAM
English + activity (11-12 years)
English level required for study: from elementary to high (A2 - C1).
The program lasts 2 weeks and includes 22.5 hours of training per week: development of language skills, workshops in English and a presentation at the end of the week. In classes a maximum of 12 students. Before the start of classes, children pass a written and oral test, according to the results of which they are placed in a classroom of the appropriate age and language level.
The program includes:
Language skills development: improving literacy and fluency in spoken English. This is achieved through a variety of activities, for example, designing infographics about London attractions.
English workshops in which students explore new subject areas. Learning goes through research, discussion, collaboration, and creativity. The topics of the seminars change from week to week, for example, British tea traditions, healthy eating and cooking, creating your own sport, portrait photography, public speaking, video blogs, 3D cities and much more. Children choose a seminar of interest to them.
After graduation, you can pass the Trinity exam (optional student). Cost - £110.
Course "Young Leaders" (12-16 years)
English level required for study: intermediate to high (B1 - C1).
This is an innovative program for educating aspiring young leaders. The program lasts 2 or 4 weeks and includes 22.5 hours of training per week. In classes a maximum of 15 people. Children are placed in classes according to age, nationality and language level.
Learn 4 subjects:
English
Children learn to apply the language to real situations - they analyze and discuss current issues (for example, interference with DNA, fake news). Improve basic language skills increase fluency in speech.
STEM
"Science, Technology, Engineering, Math" - "Natural Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics." A key feature is the solution of practical problems and the development of projects at the junction of technical disciplines based on the theory studied. STEM education is the foundation of high-tech employee training.
Pupils use scientific and mathematical knowledge to design, evaluate and manufacture a mechanical device. They conduct basic experiments in a scientific laboratory - they learn to evaluate evidence, develop logic and solve real problems, and work together on practical problems. Projects combine science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Block "Young businessman"
Children develop entrepreneurial thinking and learn the important steps to become a confident young leader. They develop a concept, research the market, create and present their product. They solve problems and find creative solutions through the implementation of business projects.
Presentation Skills
Pupils choose a topic that arouses their interest, and develop a compelling presentation. They will learn how to speak in front of an audience - to attract attention, inspire and convince. They will learn a number of practical methods and will develop their confidence.
The Young Leaders course is beautifully enriched and supplemented by seminars that take place after the lessons: creative writing, the Treasure Hunt game, debates, cooking and baking, chess, proper nutrition and well-being, fitness, ecology, theatre, puzzles, career fair, dancing, applying for university, interior design.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
Excellent accommodation in a residence, according to the standard of hotels. Children live in Premium rooms, all with a bath and toilet. The houses for living are new or recently renovated. Children 10-13 are accommodated in double rooms, children 12-16 years old live in double and single rooms. The houses have spacious and bright common areas for relaxation, ideal for evening gatherings with friends. The campus is completely secure, with gates and 24-hour security. Children are carefully monitored by school staff. On campus there is WI-FI (at certain times).
