Brooke House Summer School

Brooke House College is located in the small, typically English town of Market Harborough, in Leicestershire. The college was founded in 1967 and is located about an hour by train from London and 1.5 hours by car from Heathrow Airport. The city has many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Leicestershire County is located in a beautiful countryside, with picturesque villages in the "heart of England". From here it is easy to get to major cities: Cambridge, Oxford and Birmingham.

EQUIPMENT

School equipment includes: soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts, a games room with a pool and table tennis, a comfortable common room with a TV, a computer room with internet access. The school has Wi-Fi. Market Harborough Recreation Centre has great sports facilities that are used for daytime and evening events.

PROGRAM

The basis of all programs is English lessons.

The course helps to develop confidence in spoken English, improve grammar, listening, reading, writing and increase vocabulary. This is done through a communicative curriculum. It includes thematic weeks when the same topic is studied in the classroom, and then on excursions.

Before the start of classes, testing is carried out, according to the results of which students are distributed in the appropriate group. Progress is checked weekly. In classes a maximum of 12 people. At the end of the course, children receive a report and a course certificate.

The program provides preparation for exams: Trinity College, London final exam in spoken English (GESE) or the international English language testing system (IELTS). Pupils who choose GESE will take an English proficiency exam last Friday. Students who choose IELTS have the opportunity to take the exam on school-specific dates in the summer of 2022.

English + activity

15 hours of English classes per week. The course is intended for children who want to improve their English and relax. After lunch, the guys take part in events: sports, bowling, rafting, rock climbing, trampolining, ice skating, laser quest, kayaking, shopping. Children of different nationalities actively communicate with each other, thus, use the language in real conditions.

English + horse riding

15 hours of English classes per week. Leicestershire is one of England's most famous riding spots. In partnership with the Somerby Equestrian Center, children spend 10 hours a week learning to ride a horse under the guidance of professional trainers. Activities include jumping, cross country running and horse riding. Students learn about horses and ponies, caring for them, and proper management.

English + golf

15 hours of English classes per week. Four days a week, children learn golf under the guidance of qualified PGA trainers and play nine holes on one of Leicestershire's main golf courses - Kilworth Springs Golf Club. The course is designed for students who already have experience in golf and own all the necessary equipment.

Training sessions include:

• Golf and Etiquette Rules
• Basic setup, capture, rack, position and alignment
• Analysis of fluctuations in a computerized digital training studio
• Short play skills

English + karting

15 hours of English lessons per week + 10 hours of lessons per week karting: driving and fitness training. Classes focus on skills development, with daily progress analysis. The goal is to see clear progress throughout the course. Classes are held by partners of the school, in the karting club Stretton Circuit.

English + British culture

15 hours of English + 12 hours of thematic lessons per week. A course for students who want to learn more about British life and society. Children do not take part in activism in the afternoon, but instead they will wait 3 hours a day for additional interesting activities. Each week, one topic is studied, around which lessons are built in the classroom, thematic trips, guest lectures and practical educational events.

IELTS Exam Preparation (16+)

27 hours of classes per week. The IELTS Preparatory Course is designed for high school students who already have a good command of English and whose level is intermediate or higher. Most students who take this course either start or consider studying in UK boarding schools. Children can take the IELTS exam in the last week of the course (exam costs £ 180).

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Living in a school’s residence, in one of seven homes on campus or in one of three off-campus residential buildings. Boys and girls live in different residences. Each house is home to adults who control children at night. Accommodation in warm, comfortable and fully equipped rooms for 1, 2 or 3 people. There are several rooms with a bath. Each house has a shared lounge and kitchenette where children can relax and prepare snacks.

Three meals a day in the school cafeteria located in the main building. A wide selection of tasty, healthy and nutritionally balanced foods is presented. A cooked breakfast is served each morning for students, and fresh fruit and yogurt can be taken at any meal.

ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES

After dinner, all children take part in activities. Among them: discos, cooking classes, karaoke, Quiz games, arts and crafts, watching films, group competitions, sports, the game “Treasure Search”.

EXCURSIONS

The great location of Brook House in the heart of England means that children can visit most of the major attractions in the UK. Full-day excursions are held on Saturdays and Sundays, and half-day excursions are held on Wednesdays.

The summer program provides a unique combination of educational, cultural and recreational trips, and, of course, children always find time to buy souvenirs and gifts. Before each excursion, a meeting is held where the children learn about the place where they will go in order to get the most out of the excursions.

For an additional fee, the school offers visits to the musical in the London West End, an all-day trip to Edinburgh and a weekend trip to the Scottish Highlands.
