Appleby College is a private boarding school known for its very high academic standards. It is located in Oakville (Ontario) on the shores of the lake of the same name, half an hour drive west of Toronto. Oakville was founded in 1857. Today it is a modern city with a population of 165 thousand people, offering ample opportunities for life, business and leisure, but retaining the charm inherent in small towns. EQUIPMENT

At Appleby College, all conditions are created for the full development of each individual, for the full disclosure of academic, creative, sports and research potential, they are taught to work effectively independently and in a team. Appleby College is located on a large territory and has a developed infrastructure. There is a main educational building, a dining room, a sports arena, five playing fields, five tennis courts and three squash courts, a gymnasium, a 20-meter pool, four residences and a chapel designed in the style of Westminster Abbey.

PROGRAM

Appleby College offers over 60-year-old study programs in areas such as art, sports and science for children from 7 to 15 years. As well as a summer program of intensive study of English Summer ESL for students from 12 to 16 years. The duration of the summer language program is 4 weeks. Classes are held in small classes - up to 12 people.

Summer ESL Intensive Residency Course:

  • 110 hours of classroom instruction in the English as a Second Language program

  • Opportunity to take part in excursions on Friday evening and on weekends for a fee

The Summer ESL Program is designed for motivated students who want to develop all aspects of the English language and plan to receive secondary or higher education in Canada. The program also includes sports and recreational activities after class, as well as sightseeing trips.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Children are accommodated in comfortable and well-conditioned residences on the school campus for 2 people in a room. In total, Appleby has 4 residences, 2 of which are girls, 2 - boys.

EXCURSIONS

Sightseeing tours are organized every weekend. Children will visit Toronto Zoo and Canada’s Wonderland Amusement Park, climb CNN, cheer on the famous Canadian Blue Jays baseball club and TFC football team. The excursion program also includes a trip to Niagara Falls.

Two options for a full week of educational travel:

Temagami canoeing was designed in the image of Appleby College's renowned outdoor education program to build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills during fun canoeing adventures in the borderland wilderness region of northern Ontario.

During the week, students will spend the night in huts at the base camp and in tents along the route. They will be in small groups of 8 to 10 students, learning technical skills related to survival in the wild and traveling, such as cooking outdoors, setting up tents, canoeing, fishing and navigation. In addition to outdoor training, counsellors and guides, as well as English teachers, will also accompany students to conduct outdoor classes for them.

Cultural trips to Ottawa. Students will learn Canada’s rich history and culture by visiting Kingston, Canada’s first provincial capital, Ottawa, and Montreal, Canada’s largest French-speaking city. Teachers will teach Canadian history and culture in university classes, where students will stay for the duration of the trip.
