Reddam House School

Reddam House school – boarding school in the English county of Berkshire. The school was founded in 1816 and is located in a magnificent Victorian mansion, in a beautiful and secure location, in the heart of a picturesque 50-hectare estate of woodland and parkland. The school is just half an hour from Heathrow Airport and less than an hour from London. The school has about 670 students.

Study – this is just one of the areas in which students at Reddam House excel. The school offers the child many opportunities for development, including academic and extracurricular activities. Instead of trying to "find" their talents and interests, students are encouraged to “create” yourself and develop new competencies, preparing for a world that requires courage, resilience and flexibility.

Equipment

On the school grounds there is a professional theater with a capacity of 350 people with conference rooms, a 25-meter indoor swimming pool, 3 dance studios (for modern, Latin American and ballroom dances), a gym, a hockey field, 5 netball courts and 4 tennis courts , a shooting range, as well as several cricket, football and rugby fields. There are opportunities to practice sailing, archery, paintball and rock climbing. The school recently invested £100,000 in a specialist sports centre, installing new equipment and sprung flooring. The school is adjacent to the famous Bearwood Lakes Golf Course, where students can practice. The music school has rooms for classes and rehearsals, a recording studio, which is used for recording audio books, as well as music.

The school theater was built in 1991 and officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II. It was completely renovated in 2015. The theater is used by the school and local organizations, including the annual Bearwood Opera. Some of the Times Top 100 companies have held business seminars and conferences at the Reddam House Theatre.

Program

GCSE

Two-year program to obtain a certificate of general secondary education. 6 subjects are required to study, 4 subjects are studied electively.

A-level

Two-year program to prepare for entering the university. Students choose 4 or 5 subjects for in-depth study.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation in a residence on the school grounds. High school students live in single rooms with a bathroom and toilet.

Sport

The school offers a variety of team and individual sports: football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, basketball, golf, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, circuit and fitness training, Pilates, judo.  The element of team play is highly valued, with the school playing afternoon matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and morning matches on Saturdays. Schoolchildren can take part in competitive matches against local schools. In addition, work on nutrition, lifestyle and exercise physiology is carried out within the framework of a special program Aspire to Be.

Additional activities

The school has many extracurricular interest clubs: debate, book club, chess or board games, robotics, website design, creative writing, math club and much more. You can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Prize program and in the United Cadet Corps, which includes: leadership training, first aid, map reading, shooting, expeditions and wilderness survival training.

High school students participate in a mandatory three-day leadership development course that includes outdoor activities, teamwork, and debate. Later, they have the opportunity to take part in the “Young Entrepreneurs” personal development program.

Children take part in major school productions, performing on stage and working behind the scenes on sound, lighting and costumes, as well as doing advertising. It develops creativity, teamwork, decision-making, risk-taking and self-presentation skills.

Head of the Department of Theater and Music – actress, writer and choreographer who worked in the West End, as did most of her team. This is an opportunity for children to gain invaluable real-life stage experience. Every year there are eight performances performed very professionally, and some talented children are already auditioning for television roles.

Dance classes are popular at Reddam House. Students focus on developing performance skills, choreography and learn a variety of dance styles. Lessons are available for all age groups and levels. Pupils work on their exams at the Royal Academy of Dance or may simply dance for fun. The school is proud to host the ISA National Dance Competition, which attracts schools from across the country each year. The school also organizes a dance themed show every year.

Art classes take place in a stunning, light-filled art studio, and the art curriculum introduces subjects such as sculpture, photography, pottery, printmaking and acrylics, textiles, drawing, watercolor and oil painting.
