Fyling Hall School is a private boarding school, was founded in 1923. The school is located in North Yorkshire, near Whitby, off the east coast of the North Sea. The train journey to London takes about 3 hours.

The school is located in a large area between the coast and green meadows. This creates a wonderful atmosphere for immersion in study, and proximity to nature relaxes from overwork.

This is a small school: about 180 people study here. The school's motto is: "The days that make us happy make us wise."

EQUIPMENT

Sports equipment: huge playing fields for rugby, football, cricket and athletics. Large sports hall with climbing wall. The school has 45 acres of private forest land for fitness and walking.

The school has a purpose-built theatre, the Barn, which seats 100 people, with professional lighting and sound. There is also an outdoor theatre for summer productions, with amazing views of the coast.

The music department is located in a purpose-built building. There are rehearsal rooms and a recording studio. The school has Presonus recording equipment created to the latest standards, as well as a huge number of musical instruments and computer programs for processing music.

The art department occupies a spacious and bright room with a magnificent view that inspires creativity.

PROGRAM

GCSE

The program for obtaining a certificate of general secondary education. Mandatory for the study of 7 subjects, 3 or 4 subjects are studied by choice.

A-level

A two-year university preparatory program. Students choose 4 or 5 subjects for in-depth study.

ACCOMMODATION

Living in a residence on the school grounds, in one of the houses. Each house has a common room and a small kitchen for preparing drinks and snacks. On the territory of the residence there is WI-FI. Boys live for 2-4 people in a room, girls live for 3-4 people.

SPORT

The school constantly hosts sporting events, and children of any level of experience can take part in them. Many students represent schools in local and regional competitions. Sports at school: rugby, tennis, athletics, basketball, badminton, running, netball, swimming, football, hockey, cricket, horse riding. In addition to them, in his spare time, students offer a large number of quiet sports activities that you can do for fun.

An important part of the Fyling Hall sports tradition is horseback riding. 8 horses and ponies are the most beloved members of the school community. The location of the school allows horse riding in an absolutely safe environment. Classes are held for both beginners and experienced riders who want to improve their skills. Pupils travel to performances around the county.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Classes in the theatre allow children to develop self-confidence and learn how to calmly perform in a large audience. Children study plays, both classical and modern, rehearse and stage their own theatrical productions. School performances take part in contests and festivals far outside the school, and often receive prizes.

Creatively gifted children can study at an art school. Every year there are exhibitions of works by students.

The school has great opportunities for playing music. Children regularly give concerts both at school and beyond. School choir is very popular. He was recently invited to the BBC, where he starred in a documentary that received several awards at local festivals. The choir performs in different styles: from classical works to folk music and modern pop music. Pupils create their own groups, play in the orchestra. All children can learn to play a musical instrument: piano, violin, drums, guitar, wind instruments. Vocal classes are held.
