Additional activities

One of the three core elements of the IB is an out-of-class experience called CAS: Creative, Activity and Service.

Creativity – exploring and expanding ideas leading to an original product or presentation. This could be: singing in a choir, astronomy, ceramics, creative writing, digital photography, theater club, guitar group, knitting, media production, model United Nations, painting, TEDx conferences.

Service – engaging with the community in response to a real need. This could be: citizen science project, gardening, library work, elementary school work, charity.

Movement – physical activity that promotes a healthy lifestyle. It could be: badminton, basketball, cricket, Latin American dancing, fitness, rugby, swimming, tai chi, kung fu, tennis, volleyball, yoga, zumba.

Each year, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in creating their own project for one week – it is one of the main events in the academic calendar. Projects are associated with either a socially useful activity or an expedition. Projects involve collaborative planning and teamwork. Children of all ages work together and learn to accept and appreciate each other's knowledge, skills and experience. Project week is also full of fun and opportunities to make new friends.

Project topics: collecting plastic on the coast and drawing attention to the problem of garbage, working at a local primary school, exploring caves and the underground world, growing organic vegetables in the city, building boats, preparing an educational program on environmental protection and others.< /p>

Quarterly conferences held at the school give students the opportunity to learn how to organize events. The guys do everything themselves: from choosing the topics to be covered, to finding and booking the venue and speakers, developing seminars, preparing marketing materials, inviting participants and running the show from start to finish.

Impressions of visiting the school

Natalia StreinNatalia Shtrain
Founder of the company "Paradise"

Atlantic College is hidden in the shadows of Welsh groves, in the seaside wilderness, in a romantic 12th-century castle, where rabbits and squirrels race across the grounds. I declassified it! For 59 years, no educational consultant has set foot in this virgin beauty. I became the first! Atlantic is an oxymoron in the flesh. “Money doesn’t buy happiness,” the college preaches. And financial donors flock to him like flies to honey!

“We accommodate 4 people in a room, yes, even at 18 years old. We allow no more than 500 POUNDS PER YEAR in POCKET MONEY.” The royal families of Europe are delighted with this news and are rushing to place their young here. The Spanish princess graduated in 2020, the Belgian and Danish queens are gnawing on the granite of science at Atlantic College now.

Elizabeth II is the school's patron. Her Majesty's secretary is not lazy to visit the Welsh outback. The Spanish King and Prince Charles will arrive for the 60th anniversary. Agatha Christie's son sends box office receipts from the play "The Mousetrap". Forest Whitaker showed up the other day with an ardent desire to give money. Everyone is crazy about Atlantic!

What's happened? What's the catch?

MORE THAN 50% STUDY HERE FOR FREE. The rest pay whatever they can. According to the family's financial records. The selection is tough: 2,500 applications from Brazil and 400 from Britain compete for 200 places. Plus 58 more countries. CIS TOO. Children who want to CHANGE THE WORLD are accepted here.

The college was the first school in the UK to teach IB, the International Baccalaureate, which is all about giving back to society. Grades are still important, but not very much. Not only in this school, but in general for success. And, hand on heart, Atlantic is the best place to prepare for real life.

“We are not Sevenoaks!” - says the college. “The race for grades is not about us.” Atlantic graduates go to the same universities as children from all British private schools. And to Oxford and Harvard, where, by the way, noble sponsors continue to pay for them!

But you and I know: a university is not a guarantee of success, but just the icing on the cake. No berry can save a tasteless cake. At Atlantic, young cakes are baked to perfection.

The children are placed with peers from different social groups: an aristocrat and a refugee whose studies were interrupted by the war; the son of a postman, who has never left his native village, and the daughter of a businessman, who has traveled the world... They learn from each other. And overcome the inevitable conflicts: the most important skill for success in life!

There is no uniform, but the dress code is strict, the word “modest” is the key. No brands. “Display of wealth is vulgar,” says the college. The guys take care of school donkeys, veterans, and clean the beaches. Occupational therapy is one of the local features. If your child is a musician, concerned about environmental issues, if the exploration of Oceania has captured his mind and at the same time he creates cartoons or robots, this is the place for him. If he's doing charity work and painting for peace, the Atlantic is his forte. These are examples.

It doesn't matter WHAT he's passionate about. If only there was, and in earnest. Applications must be submitted through the national committee in your country. Essay, interview and collective activity - for selection. There are no tests. For the financially independent, the competition is less tough. Children of very rich families are often a cause of disappointment. They sit on their parents’ necks despite high scores in their diplomas, they lose their fathers’ money in gambling... Excessive leisure and money are the companions of drugs... “Their children are going crazy because they have nothing else to want.”

To avoid this unpleasant prospect, conscious families of the powerful choose Atlantic. How do you like it?
