To date, 12 public universities are registered in Switzerland. Upon admission to these universities, all foreign applicants must pass a single exam, which is organized every year in Fribourg: in June and at the end of September or early October. The exam is held in five subjects, of which French or German, Mathematics and History are compulsory, and the other two (this can be Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, or a second foreign language) are left to the discretion of the chosen university. Special preparatory courses for foreigners are held at the University of Fribourg.

Since the country is multilingual, the language of instruction at the university depends on the geographical location of a particular university. Mostly in all private universities, teaching is conducted in English. We will help you figure out which university is best for you.

The admission requirements for public universities differ. For example, for foreign applicants to enter French-speaking universities, a high school diploma with good grades and successful passing of a single exam for all foreigners are required. And for admission to universities located in the German-speaking region of the country, foreign applicants (in addition to a single exam) are required to successfully complete 2 courses of a Russian university.

Swiss public universities offer affordable prices, for example, the cost of studying at the University of Zurich will be 720 francs per semester; at the University of Geneva - 500 francs per semester; at the University of Lausan - 580 francs per semester; at the University of Bern - 750 francs per semester, and at the University of Basel - 850 francs per semester. Accommodation is paid additionally.

The highest quality private universities are hospitality and banking institutions. To enroll in private universities in Switzerland, it is enough to have a high school diploma and a certificate of passing the English exam (TOEFL with scores from 500 to 550 or IELTS not lower than 5.5-6.0.) We advise our clients on how to pass these exams.

One of the strengths of Swiss higher education is its practical focus. Practice in tourism and hospitality is an essential component of education in this area. An annual paid internship of 4-6 months is already included in the training program. Upon graduation from one of the institutes of tourism and hotel business, the student can receive a Swiss, American or British diploma in hospitality management, which gives the right to occupy a managerial position not only in a hotel, but also in a restaurant, airline, resort complex, sports club. All Swiss universities have a three-stage training system:

• Bachelor's program, 3-4 years.
• Licensee or Master's program, 1-2 years.
• Doctor's degree, 2-3 years depending on the specialty.

PhD studies usually begin with a master's degree. However, candidates with a bachelor's degree can also apply for admission, detailing their level of education in their motivation letter. It is important to note that students in master's and doctoral programs act not only as students, but also as employees. In state institutions, they study for free or almost free. They are paid a monthly salary and receive all employee privileges: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne.

As a rule, the process of admission to an educational institution should be started at least one year before the expected start date of the study. For each of the programs, universities establish a certain set of documents for admission and the deadline for their submission.
