Boarding School Malvern College was founded in 1865. The school is located in the city of Malvern, in the county of Worcestershire and covers an area of 100 hectares in a very beautiful area at the foot of the picturesque hills of Malvern Hills. Birmingham Airport takes one hour by car.

Among the graduates of the school are Nobel laureates, a gold medallist of the Olympic Games and many other famous people from various fields, including K.S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Much attention at Malvern College is given scientific work. A diverse curriculum, together with music, sports and theatre classes, contributes the maximum development of students' potential and allows them fully realize themselves. Teachers strive help children develop leadership skills, be disciplined and open new ideas.

EQUIPMENT

Malvern College has excellent conditions for playing sports, including: a beautiful cricket ground, all-weather sports fields, a large number of playing fields and tennis courts, and a gym. The school has a gorgeous new sports complex, which includes a dance studio, a fitness room, a climbing wall, squash courts, a six-lane 25-meter pool, a shooting gallery and a physiotherapy room. The large banquet hall Gryphon Room is designed for large events. There is a new medical centre.

The school has its own purpose-built art centre The Lindsay. The centre has equipped facilities for painting, graphics, photography, ceramics and digital technology. The technology centre with excellent workshops has won many awards and is designed for design and technology.

The music school is located in a large Victorian building and includes three large rehearsal rooms, a music technology audience, a percussion room, a recording studio, a library and numerous large practical study rooms. Adjacent the music school is St Edmund's Hall, a 150-seat concert hall with the beautiful Steinway grand piano. The college chapel has a wonderful organ.

GCSE

A two-year program for obtaining a certificate of general secondary education. Required study 6 subjects, 4 subjects are studied by choice.

A-level

A two-year university preparatory program. Students choose 4 or 5 subjects for in-depth study.

IB

An international undergraduate program recognized by universities around the world. 6 subjects are studied: 3 at the advanced level and 3 at the standard level. In addition this, students write an extended essay, take the course “Theory of Knowledge” (practical philosophy) and the course CAS (“Creativity, Activity and Mutual Assistance”).

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Living in a residence on the school grounds in one of 11 houses with a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. The houses have a dining room where children eat food with tutors and teachers, a private kitchen where you can prepare snacks and drinks, a laundry room, a relaxation room with table tennis and billiards, a reading room, a TV, a DVD player, a telephone.

In every house, life is in full swing. Pupils stage plays, sing in groups and organize sports competitions. There are many joint exits: from paintball tice skating. Children can simply relax in the house, for example, bake a cake on Sunday afternoon or take part in art evenings.

Each student has his own mentor, whom you can turn with any question regarding study or life.

SPORT

Malvern College has a well-deserved reputation as a school that encourages the development of students in sports regardless of age and initial abilities. Famous Malvern Hills provide great cross-country running opportunities. Popular football, hockey, cricket, netball, rugby, golf, tennis, badminton, horse riding, athletics. Students enjoy sports such as canoeing, swimming, sailing, kayak polo, fencing, snorkelling, basketball and target shooting.

Children take part in local, regional and national sports camps. The school organizes individual training with professionals for the most ambitious and gifted athletes. Malvern College maintains strong ties with clubs in a variety of sports: Worcestershire cricket club, hockey club, Manor Park tennis club and many others.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Studying at Malvern College is not limited classroom activities. In his spare time, there are many classes of interest. Among them: art, ballroom dancing, a chess club, cooking, debate, a literary society and much more.

At school, art classes are very popular. A rich curriculum offers classes in painting, printing, drawing, textiles, photography and digital technology. The Elite Art program provides students with additional opportunities meet with artists and designers, attend seminars and master classes improve their work. The level of works created by students is extremely high, with an emphasis on technology and the development of conceptual ideas. Pupils' works are proudly displayed in school buildings. As part of the art program, children visit galleries and exhibitions in the UK, regular foreign trips are held.

In the design and technology classes, students can gain hands-on experience with traditional manufacturing skills and computer-aided design. Children are taught a wide range of disciplines related technology, engineering and computer skills. The emphasis is on design, creativity and the ability solve practical problems, along with a high technical level.

In addition the curriculum, children can engage in jewellery design, silver forging, clothing design, and more. All teachers of the department have extensive professional experience in their field and a wide range of interests and knowledge in many disciplines.

The theatre department at Malvern College provides each student with the opportunity gain experience in participating in the theatre. Children develop skills and talents in various aspects of the theatrical process: as an actor, director, costume assistant or technician. These opportunities are provided both within the curriculum and outside it. In the classroom, children learn theatrical game, improvisation, develop reaction, speech and space skills. Several large-scale productions take place throughout the year in which children participate.

The school offers great opportunities for playing music and performing. Informal and reporting concerts are regularly held in the school’s concert hall, giving students great opportunities for group performances. In addition, school musicians perform at various venues in Worcestershire and Herefordshire, and a chamber choir has recently toured in France and the Netherlands.

Major concerts take place in the main building of the school, where a school orchestra, chamber orchestra, chamber choir and jazz orchestra perform. The College Choral Society gives its annual concert. The chapel choir invites students of all ages sing on Sunday services every week.

Malvern College offers specialized training in all traditional orchestral instruments, as well as vocals, organ, drums, bagpipes, classical, bass and electric guitars.
