The International School of Creative Arts (ISCA) was founded in 2009 in association with the University of the Arts in London (UAL). Today it is a fully independent centre of pre-university education in the field of art and design. The school is located in the beautiful county of Buckinghamshire, a 30-minute drive from Heathrow Airport and central London.

ISCA has a reputation as a very successful school in preparing students to enter leading art and design universities around the world.

The school recognizes the importance of including students in the international environment, introducing them to designers, leading experts, scientists and creative practitioners. The school is taught by well-known experts in the fashion and design industry, including professors Jimmy Chu (shoe designer and founder of his own brand Jimmy Choo) and Zandra Rhodes (British fashion designer). Pupils can use the experience of artists and designers, thereby gaining a real idea of ​​how the industry works.

EQUIPMENT

The school is located on an area of ​​over 8 hectares in the beautiful countryside in Buckinghamshire. School facilities include an indoor pool, a new gym, tennis courts and soccer fields.

All courses take place in a newly renovated building. Here are specialized art studios, which are also available during extracurricular time for students who want to do homework or personal projects. The school has a 3D printer, a laser cutter, a printing press, and a well-equipped photo lab.

PROGRAM

A-level plus

The two-year study program focuses on the visual arts, which provides students with the key skills required to enter leading universities.

Students whose English needs improvement are exempted from the choice of the third subject. Instead, they are enrolled in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program to ensure that they achieve the level of language required to enter the university.

The guys choose 3 subjects to study. In the second year, students are actively preparing for university entrance and interviewing, develop a portfolio, write personal statements.

Portfolio Programme

This program is for students who join the school immediately in the second year of the A-level program. They already have the academic qualifications necessary for the university, but there is not enough artwork necessary for admission to creative specialties.

By the end of the year, students will have a portfolio of work. They will also complete the A-level program in art and design. This is an obligatory part of the curriculum, which forms the basic skills that will help in studying in any creative specialty.

Once a week, all students in the Portfolio Preparation program and the second year of the A-level program attend classes at Central Saint Martins in London, studying the Creative Learning and Skill Development course. This provides an invaluable understanding of the features of higher education. This program is the first part of the Foundation Plus program.

Foundation plus

An intensive course at Central Saint Martins. It is considered an outstanding preparatory course in the world. ISCA students can attend it through an interview and the Creative Learning and Skills Development course.

This 13-week crash course begins in June and offers the opportunity to prepare for admission to the London University of the Arts (UAL) without having to study for the whole year in the traditional Foundation Diploma program.

The course is unique in that it offers to study a wide range of art and design disciplines. Upon graduation, the students will receive a Central Saint Martin’s diploma in art and design.

Central Saint Martins is one of the six universities of the London University of the Arts (UAL) and one of the most famous universities of fashion, design and art in the world. Among his graduates are designers Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, actors Colin Firth, Emilia Clark and Michael Fassbender.

Creative Arts Programme (CAP)

CAP @ ISCA offers students aged 15 a unique opportunity to experience excellent UK art and design teaching. Students are able to develop their understanding of art and design through engagement with the work of artists and designers, materials, processes and techniques. Solid foundation skills are taught across a range of specialist art and design areas and students complete work that can lead to a qualification for the Level 2 Cambridge Technicals.

This enhanced programme also incorporates elements of mathematical and scientific thinking within the art and design process. Linguistic skills are also developed through personalised English tuition.

The Programme is designed to prepare students for progression to Level 3 Diploma and A Level studies. It is specifically for students aged 15 who have a strong interest in the arts and are considering further study in areas such as fine art, fashion textiles, graphic design, 3D design or critical and contextual studies. It can be seen as a first step to an extended course at ISCA.

Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Programme (online)

The Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media at ISCA is an online pre-degree programme offering international students the special opportunity to experience an outstanding art and design education in preparation for university study. As such, this Foundation course reflects ISCA’s wealth of experience in preparing creative young people to progress to art and design universities in the UK and overseas. The course is offered full time (one year) or part-time (across two years).

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

Residence in a single room. Each room has a bathroom and toilet, a work desk and plenty of storage space. A weekly cleaning service and linen change are included. Each floor has a laundry room and kitchen. Three meals a day are provided.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Outside of the academic program, entertainment is organized weekly. Students can play sports, including football, tennis, basketball, and swimming. Master classes are regularly organized with invited art critics and speakers from leading institutes of art and design.

Pupils learn about London's rich and diverse cultural life. The proximity of the school to the capital allows you to visit world famous museums, art galleries and artists' studios. These trips include exhibitions, discussions and seminars.

The combination of social activities on and off campus gives students the opportunity to better understand British culture. Regular day trips allow you to enjoy typical English activities such as a picnic by the sea, ice skating at Windsor Castle and walks in the countryside.
