Gresham’s School Boarding School was founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham. Located in the city of Holt, in one of the most environmentally friendly and beautiful places in the county of Norfolk, near the sea coast. The nearest Norwich International Airport can be reached in 30 minutes, to London in 2.5 hours.

EQUIPMENT

The school covers an area of ​​80 hectares in a beautiful area. It has excellent sports equipment: playing fields with lighting, a 25-meter indoor pool, a large sports hall, more than 30 tennis courts, an 8-lane indoor shooting range, 7 rugby courts, netball and squash courts, a gym, and an athletics track.

PROGRAM

GCSE

A two-year program for obtaining a certificate of general secondary education. Required to study 6 subjects, 4 subjects are studied by choice.

GCSE One Year Course (pre-IB)

Intensive course for students from 15 years. Great preparation for IB or A-level programs. 6 basic subjects and 1-2 optional subjects are studied. Children are fully integrated with the main classes. In addition, English classes are held as a second language for foreign students.

A-level

A two-year university preparatory program. Pupils choose 3 or 4 subjects for in-depth study.

International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)

A program recognized by universities around the world. 6 subjects are studied: 3 at the advanced level and 3 at the standard level. In addition to this, students write an extended essay, take the course “Theory of Knowledge” (practical philosophy) and the course CAS (“Creativity, Activity and Mutual Assistance”).

ACCOMMODATION

Living in a residence on the school grounds in one of 7 houses, each of which with its own unique style and character. For younger children, there are two separate houses for living, one for boys, the second for girls. Pupils live several people in a room, most high school students are accommodated in single rooms. Each house has a common room and a small kitchen.

SPORT

Sport is an integral part of education. Gresham's has an enviable sports reputation, especially in hockey, rugby, cricket, netball and shooting. First of all, the school helps students maximize their athletic abilities in a healthy competitive environment. School sports teams compete weekly throughout the year. Saturday matches are held against other schools throughout the region. Many of the students perform nationally and internationally.

Other sports offered at the school: badminton, cross-country, football, fencing, sailing, squash, swimming and tennis. Optional classes include aerobics, basketball, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, kickboxing, street dancing, table tennis and trampolining.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

Gresham's School offers an exciting and diverse program of events, clubs and communities for its students. Among them: board games, the United Cadet Corps, a chess club, creative writing, diving, a cinema club, golf, a photo club, table tennis and much more, more than 40 clubs and communities in total.

The theatre is very popular among students. Gresham’s can be a real springboard for children who want to continue their studies at a theatre school or university. The school is known for its excellent training in this field and has released several professional actors. The school theatre has excellent sound and light systems, dressing rooms and a large auditorium. It hosts touring companies, and is also used for school productions. The school gives children all the opportunities to develop a serious interest in both acting and working on the production as a whole: control of light and sound. During the school year, at least three large performances take place.

High school music is taught. Teachers at Gresham's of the highest level, many of them perform in professional orchestras and ensembles and tour. Here you can learn to play the most diverse musical instruments: flute, harp, oboe, violin, electric guitar, clarinet, cello, trumpet, bassoon, double bass, classical guitar, saxophone, piano, horn, organ.

A quarter of the school's students sing in one of the 5 school choirs, who often go on tour throughout the UK and abroad. Anyone who plays an instrument can join one of the ensembles or groups: a symphony orchestra, a string orchestra, a brass band, jazz bands, a group of guitarists, a rock band and many others.
